CHAMBER MUSIC
Lilly has performed prolifically in a wide range of ensemble settings, beginning with her undergraduate studies and continuing through her training at the Australian National Academy of Music (ANAM) and her Master's studies at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln. Lilly particularly enjoyed working in small chamber ensembles (one to nine players) that she found could flexibly perform in many different settings and often had an eclectic range of under appreciated music to discover. Additionally, having had the opportunity to perform alongside world-class guest artists such as members from the Berlin Philharmonic and the LA Wind Quintet, only grew Lilly's appreciation for small ensembles further.
Sensing the opportunity to leverage the flexibility and dynamic music of small ensembles, Lilly has made it her personal project to deliver accessible music to the community that showcases local emerging classical musicians. The result of this inspiration led to the formation of several groups such as the Estrel Duo (flute and harp), Beyond Time Trio (two flutes and piano), and The Waterlily Musicians—her own flexible ensemble and rotating collective featuring some of Brisbane and Melbourne’s most promising young classical performers. With these groups, she has presented chamber music recitals across Australia—including in Brisbane, the Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast, and Melbourne—as well as internationally in London, UK. While studying in Köln, Lilly performs regularly in various student ensembles around North Rhine-Westphalia.
THE WATERLILY MUSICIANS
Lilly is passionate about bringing music to the community and actively curates her own chamber music concert series in Brisbane, with a focus on showcasing local emerging classical musicians. Through her projects, Lilly hopes to provide meaningful performance opportunities for recent music graduates and to create inclusive concert experiences that introduce and demystify classical music for new listeners. These performances also present refined interpretations of works by classical masters, alongside music by Australian, female, and contemporary composers, and often feature distinctive ensemble configurations centred around the flute.
Lilly has independently curated and performed in the following concert programs:
-
Beyond Time (April 2023): a recital for two flutes and piano at Auburn Uniting Church in Melbourne, performed as the Beyond Time Trio with Melbourne-based flautist and ANAM alumna Rachel Lau and pianist Amanda Pang, also an ANAM alumna.
