🍵Matcha Reviews: FUUMI FUUMI | Hojicha Latte
FUUMI FUUMI is a small Japanese-style bakery situated on the outskirts of Melbourne CBD. They offer a wide range of freshly baked breads, pastries and cakes. My first visit to FUUMI FUUMI was with a friend whom I met up with to catch up over breakfast. The cafe has a small food menu consisting of a few sandwich and breakfast/lunch items which satisfied our early morning hunger. They also offered both matcha and hojicha lattes on their drinks menu which was a bonus. The cafe is quite small with very limited seating both inside and outside (they could probably only host up to a couple of groups) and so we were lucky enough to have just squeezed in on a table outside.
I decided to try the hojicha latte first. The latte came in a very homely mug and was a very generous size (they only offer this one size). The taste was actually quite well balanced as there was a strong hojicha flavour, but it was blended nicely with a good amount of milk and sweetness. The texture was also thick and frothy so it wasn't too thin or watery. The drink was nice and hot when it came out so we were able to enjoy it for a little longer before it cooled down.
I also ordered a Ton Katsu Sando along with this drink, which cost about $17.90. The sandwich was very fresh and tasted decently good, however the portion was quite small and so I thought the price was a little steep for such small sandwiches.
Overall it ended up being quite a nice spot for my friend and I to catchup at, although I would say that FUUMI FUUMI doesn't quite have the space to accomodate all its customers who'd like to dine in. If I'm around the area and looking to satisfy a hojicha craving, I would definitely stop by FUUMI FUUMI again.
